What have been up...

Well, not much, i just went to see speed racer yesterday in the middle of lectures. 3hr break FTW. haha. It's cool, but too much CGI. usually these types of movies turns me off, but the script, eventhough how corny it is, preety much poked somethign in me, since i watched the cartoon in my childhood days. Kind of cool. anyways besides that, everything else has been fun. Poly life is expensive, just last wednesday i watched ironman and yesterday i watched speed racer... like geezee.... anyways, things are cool...

On the otherhand, something i have been working on died.. when i accidentally over wrote it the other day... what a shitty situation.. oh well... what can i do? i redid the work. IF you want to read up on that check out my hikari blog. i keep it as a saperate school blog, but i might split it into 2 blogs now, since the other day, i had a moment of inspiration of writing why switch statements are better than ifelse, it turned out to be a cool lesson, and the more people i show that to, the more they want me to keep it up to date.... like wtffuxx0rszhax... oh well..

Anyways, i gota go catch up some other time.

Gasps...

Okay, i have decided after long deliberation that i will drop A Team, lol. ironic, i was so amped up during the interview, and i drop it just a couple of days after. lol. Kinda reminds me of that time in secondary school in which i quit a month before i was supposed to be president of IT club. lol. Anyways, that doesn't matter. I decide that i need to put more time into my course and my work. Besides, i only need one CCA, and 2 ccas is one too many. Was already feeling the strain in which i got so many ccas and not enough time. I don't want to be caught in a tight jam.

After writing my resignation letter...yes you heard me right... i have officially left A team. So now i can resume my archery as normal and my studies... in which i seriously think i'm falling behind in math... which sux. I don't want to be stuck in the same vortex of doom i was stuck in in secondary school again.

Anyways, i got class soon, so i'll catch up later.

Dillema....

Okay, so yea reading that tittle prolly poked someone in their ribs.. heh. Well, this is the situation i'm currently facing, well i guess i dug my own ditch...

As you know if you have read my blog, i've got 2 CCAs. One is Archery and the other is A-Team. Okay let's break it down...

Archery
- Selection through basic archery course
- Training every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday. With set time and location.
- Still going through Archery's Basic Archery Course.
- If fail, then off the club.
- If pass, then will have to find a way to union the Archery Club and A team or drop Either/Or.

A Team
- Selection through interview
- Meeting every Wednesday fortnightly
- Events participating will force me to miss lessons/Classes.
- Means catching up lessons..Not something I'm happy to do...
- Timing Clashes with Archery
- Technically, am in A Team Already.

So with that points put across.. what should i do? I don't want to spiral out into daily planner hell like my secondary school days. I should know of all people that having dual CCAs don't work for me....but why did i do it :<. I dunno. For now i guess, the situation i'll take is to give A team a trial of 2 months while i wait for my archery basic course to finish. If i pass, then i'll have to continue with this dillema... if not, then i guess i'll only have one cca to worry about.

Other than that, i'm enjoying school... I like the subjects and when you like the stuff you are learning, you'll like studying it. heh. So yay for me! And even better news is that i have no exams...yippy. But that means being constant with work which i seriously don't mind.

Labour Day!

Yay, 30th post... this call for a celebration..haha.
Well, let's see it's labour day today, and sadly, no vart lessons... they are the most funnest subject i have.heh. check out my other blog hikari digital base, to see what i'm working on now. Well, anyways, my class has 3 daniels and 2 melvins. haha. It's fun. lol. I took up A-Team and Archery, yes I'm feeling like A person now...get it? yes, i'm abit looney. lol.

Archery is fun, but there is a basic course i got to go through and the team apparently will drop members who do not pass the test at the end of the course which is in 5wk's time. OMG stress...lol. on another note, i joined the A team, the school's ambassadorial team which does event planning, organising, management, ushuring and all that stuff... the interview 2 days ago for it was like a business interview..omgawd...haha... well.. we'll see tommorow if i get in.

anyways, i'm off. need to relax.

A new chapter unfolds

Just finished a bleach marathon lol. season 1 to 2.now kinda mid-way. anyways, not alot has changed in a couple of months. I'm down with the Flu, :( what's worst is that my acedemic year begins this coming monday. OH yeah, orientation was fun....well not really, more like lame, but then again, isn't orientations supposed to be lame? lol. I like my class, it's looney. there are 3 daniels and 2 melvins. lol. would seriously be a challenge to figure out a way to identify who is who. lol.

Planning to get myself an external hard disk, like my lecturer recommended and trade in my old ibm for a Eee PC. Yup, an Eee PC. lol. The main laptop i have is about 3.4kg... gasps. lol. It's a media laptop, err, Acer 5920G (http://www.acer.com.sg/products/aspire5920G/psp_aspire5920G.asp), yep gemstone. It's way to heavy to lug to school every day, so, i'll only use it for projects, the eee pc will be my friend for other days.

anyways, Orientation was kinda cool...yeah kinda. we played looney games, oh yeah, we had a damn funny CC (course coordinator). She's hilarious. most of the guys are cool. Oh yeah, i met that guy, netto, he's cool too. Anywho, things will get interesting the upcoming week, so stay tune :D.

Fresh Fruits!

Hey again, well my spirits are up and better. a couple of interesting things has happened so far and i think i'll try to sum it up.

Firstly, i'm heading off to Nanyang Technological University....

Yar...

Right...

Wahaha, nah i'm heading to Nanyang Polytechnic studying a course under the name Digital Entertainment Technology. Well for you guys who dunno what that means, it's also known as Game Development &/Or Animation. So yeh. At first i was like... i don't really care, which poly i ended up in, I've been through neighbourhood schools, so no matter how many ah bengs and ah lians or mat gangsta, I can still survive.

Lol. I did abit of background search on opinions and found out oh hold and behold that the poly i'm in has both lols. But i'm not worried, i'm great with both types of people, as long as they aren't those "I want to own you sort of people". Besides, with the mats i can play my malay card as well. Hey it's one upside for being a malay. heh.

Oh also an interesting note, i have a friend in my old eAthena days who turns out to be going to the same course/school as i am.. how cool is that? I have never met him before so heh. Anyways, turns out Nanyang is well known for media and IT, so it'll probably cool i guess. Never have been to the open house before so i dunno... Heared the campus is nice... And i just came across someone's blog that the course has alots of Maths(Especially Add Math) and Physics. My response? Somehow i'm not surprised. Kinda what i was expecting. Always have excepted that my line of work lies in the technicality of the world. Both i'm not that excellent at, but i think i can get by.

Well, in other news, i've stop working, yerp today's my last day and i'm preety much free to do whatever i want to do till school year begins in april. Probably exercise and lose the pounds i put on during my working months. lol. Feels funny to now contribute to the jobless demography of Singapore haha.

les-see...
Oh yeah an interesting thing happened last tuesday. I was walking back from work see, i was at the escalator at the MRT station and i found 2 $2 notes on the floor. The first thing i did was ask the guy infront of me, whom was rummaging through his wallet if he dropped it. For some odd reason he said nope and didn't want it. Suddenly, for no reason whatsoever, i gave the 4$ to the old women selling tissue paper outside the station. On a normal occasion i would probably keep it, but something pulled me to do it. So...dunno lah.

Eh, polys have no more consessions and i'm feeling the pinch every time i travel. $1.40 every time i go up to toa payoh and another 1.40 when i go down. Damn painful to burn the hole in the pocket.

Well, with so much free time what am i going to do with it? Lol. give you a preview, this sat i have an airshow to go to and also a Singapore Game Industry Seminar to attend. lol. My mum for some odd mad reason wants me to go to some microsoft server launch. trying to squeeze myself out of doing that. Looks like finishing work early infact gives me mad timetables. lol.

Take it all in...

Okay, my life is kinda screwed atm. Sigh. Chinese new year is coming and it won't be a happy one for me. My mum and dad had a short fight. With the end result of my dad not wanting to go for the family reunion at malaysia. So no malaysia for me. Well unless some good news came up. IF there is a better time to reflect on life this is it.

That put aside, today at work i had a little talk again with my boss. To put it simply, i grew another 5 years older in less than an hour. Well, basically if you didn't know me that well yet, i had been the leader of an open source emulator project, a fairly big one that was getting hits like 100, 000 to 300 000 a day, for about half a year and experience from that made me grow older by 20 years. but that is a recount for another time. (for further reading: About Me Entry From Eathena's Wikipedia )

So, well, yeah, i got a bit of reality slapping from my boss. Simply stated, I was not detailed in my job and that I had not noticed this during the probation period my boss gave me, needs to crush that idea that i can give people how to improve, That and i am fickle minded, I let my emotions get the better of me and it affect how i work, thus opening it as an opportunity for people to use it against me. Well that seemed to be a lot of slaps in just 40 mins. Well yes it is. Thankfully i still have my job and i walk away just with minor stiches. Interestingly i didn't feel that i got punched in the face repeatedly. At moments it felt that the temperature in the room rose 200 degrees, then moments later when i took a deep breath and let it all in, the temperature fell faster than it rose.

I expected i would still be reeling when i type this, but surprisingly im not. Now is the time to do some soul searching and to fix all these weaknesses.

I think i'll end off with a short happy saying to brighten the mood since i still technically am feeling like crap from all these happening on the same day,
"Life is a journey which we will not see the end."-Hariz.

Ah.. So life goes on..

lol, i just realised i start most of my posts with "Ah" or any other types of Ah.. lmao. Anyways that's beside the point. So, work, and results. Oh results. I got actually 20 points for L1R4. Gasps. Yea i know, i tell people i get 17. My L1R5 is actually 26. Gasps Even more!. Yea i know. lol. 17 is minus CCA points, so it's a more or less Save face sort of thing. I dunno. I kinda feel sucky cos my inner most circle of friends have an L1R5 range of 9-16. So i'm like....Shit. I got no A1's nor A2s, my best is B3s and i have two of them. Comb Science and humans. Lol. Oh and i finally passed my malay. AHAHAHAHAHA. The one subject that i doubt i'll pass i actually did with a C6. lol. My Ex-Malay teacher was estatic when i told her. haha.

But the pass rate of sec 5 is not very high and most of my school friends and teachers tell me that my points are good enough. But to me, that's shit. but fact is that a majority of n2 and n3 get more than 26+ points, which screws up chances for even republic poly. My principal was kinda unhappy, but yea, what to do?

At work is funny, I brought up the idea of working during my stint in poly to pay for a part-time course during NS, to my boss, celine and she asks me to read a couple of books and learn from them. Then tell her what the books are about on monday then what i have learnt from them.

So far i've been reading one of them and the first 4 chapters has been ranting about how the strategies and the system works. But that's kinda pointless. lol. I prefer if the book just jumped into how it's done and stuff. lol. But perhaps i'm just impatient.

I dunno, people are thinking about what's next, JC or poly, or what they get for posting, I seem to be wondering beyond that, beyond NS and eventually University. Yep, the big U. Then maybe learn the ropes from a gaming company and then build my dream, which i have a very solid determination and aim for, A gaming company that goes down in history to produce the best games.

I have a story to share actually. It's something i never really thought about untill yesterday when i told my boss about it. MY parent's business history and how they made it big. The business is a family enterprise. Yerp, my mum is the managing directory, dad is the chairman and the director for the malaysian branch, sister is the finance manager, brother-in-law is the regional manager. So i can see why my parents wants me to play some sort of role in this. But that's not what i want to do in life. not my kind of stuff.

According to my mum, how they made it big started of with my dad's position when he was working for citibank or something like that. And that was like 40-50 years ago. Most of the workers there are...how do i say... hmm.. a more politically correct word is Caucasian, and as they were 40 years ago, stuck up. Whenever my dad managed to close a deal, they would be unhappy. And whenever they closed a deal they would show off to my dad. My dad at that time met my mum, and she was doing retail. So, my dad left the bank and set up his own company. my mum subsequently left and joined him. So at first they ran into problems. She and my dad had an idea, at that time there was this new technology called Projectors and transparencies. She and my dad capitalised on it and learnt how to operate the machines. With that, she sold to school around singapore and teaching the teachers how to use it. She then had partners like steadler and somfy. Eventually they went into bigger things with their capital and started making screens with R&D. If yer interested in the business, visit http://www.lavscreen.com/.

If you had noticed, they then released screens with my name and my sisters names as the model name. So yea, someways i had a part to play in it all. Oh heres a little secret, if you had known the company from 1970+ then you probably saw a poster baby for the company. that was me. haha. my parents have that photo framed up in their bed room still. lol.

So, that's a little success story from my mum's company. But like any other companies, there are problems, and if there are no problems there are no lessons. So there are some stuff i have learnt from these problems which are usefull in my future endeauvers. Interestingly enough, some people learnt things like these when their ventures fail but i'm having these lessons before i even have any sort of ventures. for now, work time! haha.
